Dear Faith Des Peres Church Family,
Happy Thanksgiving! May your time with family and friends be one of mutual blessing.
The theme for our Advent through Christmas Eve services beginning this Sunday, will be “Heaven and Nature Sing! 300 Years of Joy to the World.” Following that theme, my sermon message this First Sunday of Advent will be “Preparing Room: Hopeful Joy” from Isaiah 2:1-5 and Romans 13:11-14. This is communion Sunday so please bring your non-perishable food items for our Circle of Concern monthly collection.
There are still some ornaments left on our Christmas Giving Tree in the Gathering Space if you would like to participate in our endeavor to help families provide gifts for their children this Christmas. The gifts are due and will be dedicated during worship a week from Sunday, December 8.

The Faith Formation Center has decided to take a different approach to an Advent Devotional for 2019. We decided to give our wonderful writers, artists and publication coordinators a break for this year and have ordered “Straw for the Manger” from Presbyterian Church USA. The focus of the devotional is “caring for the least of these” and provides each day of Advent a Scripture excerpt, meditation and prayer to deepen the season’s experience. Devotionals are available Today in the Gathering Place. Will Ridley, 314-821-8524, Email: ridleywp@att.net.
A Note from Pastor Marilyn
Dear Faith Des Peres Church Family,
As we prepare to head into Thanksgiving week, we give thanks that a lot of work has happened on our long-awaited parking lot construction project this past week. The grading work in the front of the church was completed and both driveways are open. For now, we still have four parking spaces in the front, and we have some new parking in the back. Unfortunately, the weather last week, this week, and forecast for next week is slowing down some aspects of the work and neither the work in front nor back will be completed by Thanksgiving. I will announce any further updates during worship this Sunday.
During our Thanksgiving worship this Sunday we give thanks that we will be welcoming two new members. My sermon message will be “Giving Thanks to God” from 2 Thessalonians 2:1-5, 13-17.
Last call for our “A Little Touch from Home” collection for our deployed troops, which will be dedicated during worship this Sunday.
Following worship, we’ll kick off our Christmas Giving Tree project during a special hospitality time hosted by our Mission and Ministry Center this Sunday. The gifts will be dedicated during worship December 8.
The church office will be closed next Thursday and Friday, so please be sure to get any announcements in by noon Wednesday. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
Looking ahead – can you believe it will be December a week from Sunday? – the theme for our Advent through Christmas Eve services beginning Sunday, December 1 will be “Heaven and Nature Sing! 300 Years of Joy to the World.”
And looking even further ahead for our children and families, a family fellowship movie and activity night is planned for Wednesday, December 4 from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Gingerbread House making is planned for Saturday, December 14 10:00 a.m.-Noon, and another Family Fellowship focused on the nativity story is planned for Sunday, December 15 at 9:30 a.m.
I look forward to seeing you in and around our church as we share in mission and ministry together!
Shalom in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Marilyn
