Dear Faith Des Peres Church Family,
Good news! The last permits for our parking lot construction/reconstruction project have FINALLY been approved! And this coming week we really, really expect to see work beginning to happen on our property with a goal to have it all completed before Thanksgiving. We will send you updates as appropriate in the coming weeks.
My sermon message this Reformation Sunday will be “Dreaming With God” from Joel 2:23-32. In this Scripture God promises to inspire all people, young and old, male and female, with hope-filled dreams and visions for their and their community’s future.
We are again participating in the St. Louis World Food Day food packing event Friday, November 1 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Last year we signed up for one table and because there was so much interest, we’ve signed up for two tables this year, which means we need 20 people to fill those tables. Please sign-up in the Gathering Space this Sunday or notify Tiara Payne in the office or Roy Lennox. If there’s interest we’ll go out to dinner together afterwards, too.
On November 3 we will observe All Saints Sunday during worship with a special time of remembrance for our loved ones.
At 9:15 a.m. Sunday, November 10 we will have our first Family Fellowship of story time, crafts and light refreshments.
Please also look in the Gathering Space for a list of items we’ll be collecting for our next “A Little Touch from Home” for our deployed troops. We will dedicate what we’ve collected during our Veteran’s Day worship on Sunday, November 10.
And looking ahead to November, Faith Formation will host a discussion of Barbara Brown Taylor’s Holy Envy: Finding God in the Faith of Others over lunch following worship Sunday, November 17. Hope you’ll join us!
Keep watching our weekly blogs, emails and bulletins for more information about these and other upcoming events and activities being planned by the Faith Formation, Mission and Ministry, and Worship Arts centers for November.
I look forward to seeing you in and around our church as we share in mission and ministry together!
Shalom in Christ Jesus,
Pastor Marilyn
